fundamental element in the hydrological cycle, as it is through it
that water recharge is carried out in basins and underground
reserves. The present work aimed to characterize the time series
of monthly average precipitation from multi-satellite data (TRMM
and GPM) and rainfall stations distributed in the mesoregions of
the State of Pernambuco, as well as to obtain descriptive
statistics of annual precipitation. The main results of the
statistical analysis are: extreme annual average values of
precipitation: Metropolitana do Recife (max = 195 mm/year, min =
                         61 mm/year), Mata Pernambucana (max = 172 mm/year, min = 56
                         mm/year), Agreste (max = 111 mm/year, min = 30 mm/year),
                         Sert{\~a}o (max = 90 mm/year, min = (21 mm/year), S{\~a}o
                         Francisco (max = 68 mm/year, min = 16 mm/year). The temporal and
spatial evolution of the average annual precipitation shows 3
homogeneous regions: Pernambuco coast (Metropolitana and Mata),
                         transition zone (Agreste), semi-arid (Sert{\~a}o and S{\~a}o
                         francisco).",
